Long Time No Write
Posted on 17. Sep, 2005 by annie in Notebook
This is the first update to this journal since the launch of my website and the first entry since Hurricane Katrina came through. The previous entries were really a private correspondence between my cousin and I from our desk jobs which no longer exist. I’m leaving them up anyway since they’re a pretty honest reflection of the way my brain works, even if they’re not necessarily appropriate for a professional musician’s website.
Refugee Status:
So I’m living in an apartment in Baton Rouge with my mom, my brother, my boyfriend, my aunt, her boyfriend, and they guy who’s in charge of all the computers at my mom’s law firm. It’s pretty insane. I’m currently sharing a bedroom with my mom and my boyfriend which is highly awkward. It really sucks when we come in after mom has gone to bed and she wakes up and the three of us have a short conversation and then say goodnight. It’s so weird. I can’t talk to Andre in bed, let alone get it on, so we all watch a lot of tv. I really like Iron Chef, the japanese version of course. My mom’s house in Metairie got about a foot of water in it so it will be some time before she can live there and my apartment is in mid-city, an area that experienced bad flooding and nobody is allowed in to check on their homes. At least I’m alive and my family and friends are all ok.
I’m currently touring and recording with the Sons of William. Luckily our schedule was not affected by the hurricane so I’m not out of work. We rocked ‘em last night in Houma, Louisiana and will be in Texas in a couple of weeks opening for the Clarks. I’m not in a good mood right now so I’m going to stop writing, but I’ll update the journal when I feel better and tell you more of the highjinks from living in a tiny apartment with all these nutty characters. Lauren Goldstein is the coolest.
