ACM Fan Jam Blog…

Good times at the ACM Fan Jam
It was quite a whirlwind, I must say. It blows my mind to think that I’ve done the ACM’s enough times that I actually have traditions and routines that I stick to, but suffice it to say those were out the window this year as we kicked off what will hopefully become a new tradition in Vegas; The Fan Jam.
The Sugarland band (or Sugarband) became the backing band for several artists who performed at the Jam at Mandalay Bay immediately following the awards. We rehearsed all day for 3 days. Which meant I didn’t go outside for 3 days. Literally. I never left the casino. I’m still in a bit of a fog so I’ll just list the top 10 highlights…
1. I got to play ‘Little White Church” with Little Big Town. Heck yeah.
2. I also got to play “Giddy On Up” with Laura Bell Bundy (who hosted) AND got to do the sassy call-and-response parts on the bridge. Love it.
3. I fell in love with the Band Perry, who closed the Jam. We started calling everything related to the Band Perry “The ____ Perry.” For instance, their drum set became “The Drums Perry” and their parents are “The Parents Perry.”
4. I learned the term “Hangry” – a combination of hungry and angry. A super helpful term for me since I’m always hangry in the morning.
5. I was informed by Scott and Thad that Rihanna is tall and smells good.
6. During dress rehearsal, Blake and Reba had to walk around me to get off stage after introducing “Tonight.” Blake shouted at me “Get out of my way!” as a joke, which was extremely hilarious and unexpected.
7. Head’s up, dinner and drinks costs an average of $42/person at the Mandalay Bay.
8. This is more of a lowlight than a highlight, but halfway through the fan jam, 2 drunk women fell FROM THE UPPER BALCONY to the balcony below and were so drunk that they stood up and walked away unscathed. Wow.
9. When we left the fan jam, we came out from backstage and accidentally walked directly into the throngs of people leaving the theater. I panicked and grabbed Scott (since he’s the most recognizable with that hair and all) and tried to hightail it before being spotted but this only drew more attention to myself, plus I ran the wrong way. Awesome. The best part is that no one tried to ask us for autographs anyway.
10. The second best part is that we ended up riding in the elevator with people who had just seen the show but had to get out right as they started talking about whether they liked it or not. Guess they didn’t recognize us…
I had a great time at any rate! Hopefully this whole crazy thang will happen again real soon!

You guys were Incredible. How come we didn’t hear Giddy on Up? I Love LBB she is hilarious and would have loved to hear it. But the stuff that she did sing was great! I know you guys had to work hard to do all that you did and I appreciate it. The First Ever Fan Jam exceeded expectations. You sounded great the whole night but loved when you sang in David Nail! Thanks for making the night one I will never forget.

A couple of Michigan friends made it out to Vegas for ACM weekend and Fan Jam. I enjoyed hearing the reports as well as your highlights, Annie! Thanks for the blog! Sounds like it was a whirlwind of a great time for all. Hoping I might be able to attend next year, seeing as my only Vegas experience was a detour on the way to the Grand Canyon when I was 12…
Minneapolis and Cleveland are next up on my “list”, following Jacksonville and Grand Rapids this past month in March… It’s been a blast! Always is! Take care and see you in May!

#8!!!!! WHAT THE HELL??????? hahahahaha
#1 is my favorite!
and as far as fan jam goes… it was slightly boring to be sitting in the dark for the majority of 3 hours watching the awards, but ALL of the live music was freaking off the hook!!!! SUGARBAND killed
I’d do it again if SL hosted again… or LBB. She’s a kick!

We rehearsed GIddy On Up but there was some confusion during the show and we didn’t get to play it live which was such a bummer! It’s one of my favorite songs! I had so much fun playing it with Laura at rehearsal! Next year!

Just getting a chance to read this and laughed so hard! Love # 6 it would have been awesome and totally unprofessional if he did it during the actual show!!!
# 8 I laughed so hard but um….. all I can say is WOW lol
#9 I love that you freaked out trying to get out and made a bigger scene such a great picture in my mind! So funny!!!
#10 I would have totally joined in on the conversation if it was me, you know talk yourself up ( not that its needed) would have been funny if halfway through they recognize you and stop talking!
Happy you had such a great time did Chipotle cater again?
